Two Questions That Keep Me Focused and Free From Burnout

Burnout isn’t always about working too much. In my experience, it’s more often about working on the wrong things — or on too many things that don’t truly matter.
As a business coach who works deeply with the subconscious, I’ve noticed a simple truth: focus and productivity come from alignment, not willpower. And whenever I feel myself slipping into overwhelm, I come back to two simple questions.

🤔The Two Questions That Changed Everything
Whenever I feel stretched thin, I pause and ask myself:
“Is this the best use of my time for my biggest goal?”
“Am I doing this because it really matters, or am I secretly distracting myself as a form of self-sabotage?”
At first glance, these questions might sound straightforward. But they’ve saved me from countless hours of busyness that would have drained my energy.

😜A Personal Example
Not long ago, I caught myself about to commit to yet another workshop project, even though my calendar was already overflowing. My logical brain insisted, “It’s a great idea — just say yes!”
But when I paused and asked my two questions, I realized the truth: I was overcommitting as a way to avoid the discomfort of fully focusing on the projects I had already committed to. That moment of awareness gave me the clarity to say “not now,” and to give 100% to what actually mattered.
That pause probably saved me weeks of stress — and gave me better results in the work I was already doing.

😮Why It Works: The Subconscious Factor
I work from one core hypothesis in my coaching: we are always the creators of our own lives.
Distractions may seem to come from circumstances, clients, or colleagues. But on a deeper level, distraction is often a subconscious choice — a way of protecting ourselves from failure, rejection, or not feeling good enough.
When we don’t see that clearly, burnout creeps in. It’s rarely just “too much work.” More often, it’s too much misaligned work, done for the wrong reasons: approval, fear, or avoidance.

😍Choosing Focus Over Burnout
The shift happens when we reclaim responsibility and start asking better questions. By seeing ourselves as the creators of our circumstances, we move out of powerlessness and into empowerment.
Every moment, we’re choosing our state of being — focused or distracted, empowered or depleted. These two questions shine a light on subconscious sabotage and bring us back into conscious choice.
And once you’re clear, you don’t need massive willpower to be productive. You simply act from alignment.

👌Final Thought
Burnout isn’t inevitable. Focus doesn’t require force. With the right mindset shifts — and the right questions — you can sustain your energy while making consistent progress on what matters most.
So next time you feel overwhelmed, try asking:
“Is this the best use of my time for my biggest goal?”
“Am I focused, or am I sabotaging myself with distraction?”
You may be surprised how quickly clarity returns.
